ST. LOUIS/CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (KMOX) — Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Illinois are bringing home some students who are studying abroad.
WashU told about three dozen students living in Italy to return home due to coronavirus concerns.
The decision to pull the students out follows an alert from the CDC recommending that all non-essential travel to Italy be avoided. The country is one of the hardest hit by the coronavirus outbreak.
As for Illinois, all students, faculty, and staff in Italy and parts of South Korea received an email recently requiring them to return to the United States because of concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.
With the continued uncertainty caused by the rapidly changing coronavirus disease (COVID-19), here are several important updates that affect our university community. https://t.co/ySkpxeOJvF pic.twitter.com/z0sNAiUOI5
