(KMOX) - Reports of a live sports event are breaking on Wednesday morning as a two-on-two golf match between Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning versus Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady looks likely to happen.
Golf journalist Robert Lusetich was first to bring some context to the rumor, saying: "Tiger v Phil II might indeed be happening as a pay per view event but that the caveat is that each will have a partner."

March 30, 2020 CNBC then confirmed the report, saying AT&T’s WarnerMedia and the PGA Tour would host the event and it would benefit a coronavirus relief effort.
It would happen on an empty course in Florida, two weeks before the resumption of any league play, Golf.com reports. So, if major sports leagues being to announce plans to return to action in June, the match would take place in mid-May. The report also says it would be broadcasted on regular cable channels, not pay-per-view.
It will be the second head-to-head golf challenge played between Woods and Mickelson, following 2018 showdown at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas. They played an unofficial PGA Tour event with a $9 million purse that Mickelson won after a four-hole playoff.
The first reports of the match came from Twitter when Mickelson was asked about a rematch with Woods and said, "Working on it."

March 30, 2020 The PGA TOUR made the announcement that due to the ongoing health crisis related to COVID-19, all PGA TOUR events through the week of the AT&T Byron Nelson (May 7-10) have been canceled and PGA Championship (May 14-17) has been postponed for a date later this year.
