RECALL: Trader Joe's, Green Giant veggies among 10 products pulled from shelves

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Growers Express is voluntarily recalling multiple fresh produce products due to a risk of Listeria contamination, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The fresh vegetable products include packaged varieties of butternut squash, cauliflower, zucchini and a butternut squashed-based veggie bowl. 

Most of the affected products are labeled with a “Best If Used By” Date of June 26 – June 29, 2019.

Produce affected by this recall includes:

Green Giant Fresh

  • Cauliflower Sweet Potato Crumbles
  • Cauliflower Crumbles "Fried Rice" Blend
  • Butternut Diced
  • Butternut Cubed
  • Ramen Bowl
  • Zucchini Noodles

Trader Joe's

  • Butternut Squash Spirals
  • Zucchini Spirals

Growers Express

  • Butternut Peeled

Signature Farms

  • Cauliflower Crumbles

No other Growers Express products are impacted or part of this recall. This recall does not affect or include any Green Giant® canned or frozen vegetable products.

The products were distributed from Biddeford, Maine across the country to the following states: South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maine, New York, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee.

Listeria, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is an organism that causes serious illness when one ingests something contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. It is most likely to affect those with weakened immune systemes including children, elderly and pregnant women.
