ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - One of the die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fans currently camping outside Busch Stadium told KMOX this is her 14th year to be in first in line to walk into baseball heaven on Opening Day.
She has a tent setup in line with a number of other fans on 8th Street, across from the Stan "The Man" Musial statue. For some, this is an annual event with their friends, others are camping with family members.
They're preparing for the Cardinals home opener on Thursday – first pitch set for 3:15 p.m. against the San Diego Padres.
"We have a good time, everybody parties and cooks and it's like a big happy family that meets once a year," the woman said.
Another man says he's been doing it for seven years and gets plenty of looks from passing drivers. He says sometimes they stop and ask, "Why?"
He tells them, they're getting ready to watch "the best team in baseball."
