St. Louis police officer says there are white supremacists in the department

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — CBS News gets a rare glimpse into the challenges some St. Louis police officers say they are facing with white supremacists in the department, despite implicit bias training.

CBS' Jeff Pegues talked with the President of the Ethical Society of Police, Sergeant Heather Taylor.

Pegues: "Do you think that there are white supremacists on the police force?"
Taylor: "Yes."
Pegues: "You didn't even pause."
Taylor: "Have you seen some of the Facebook posts of some of our suspended officers right now? Yes."

You might remember, the report from the Plain View Project that exposed 22 St. Louis officers for alleged racist and derrogatory social media posts.

Public Safety Director Jimmy Edwards said implicit bias training has mandatory since October 2014. However, Taylor said the training was not mandatory, a claim Edwards disputes.
