EARTH CITY, Mo. (KMOX) — Score one for the Rams in one of the lawsuits they're facing after leaving St. Louis for Los Angeles.
An arbitration panel has ruled that the Rams will be able to purchase the property — last valued at $12.7 million — for a buck.
Under the agreement that brought the Rams to St. Louis from Anaheim, the team had the right to buy the property for a dollar after its lease expired in 2025, even if the lease was terminated before then.
The St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority argued that when the Rams moved, the lease wasn't terminated, but expired. It also argued that because the provision had no end date, it violated the law prohibiting open-ended property agreements.
The panel agreed with the Rams...so in 2024, they'll be able to buy the 27-acre property...including the indoor practice facility and offices...for a dollar.
