MAPLEWOOD (KMOX) -- About 5,000 Missouri American customers in Maplewood, Shrewsbury and a portion of Webster Groves are being told to boil their drinking water until further notice. A school district is also cancelling.
A water main break on Sunday lowered pressure, prompting the warning for people to boil their water for three minutes before drinking or cooking with it. Tap water can still be used for washing, bathing and other non-consumable uses.
The entire Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District will be closed Monday. That's due to the break. Robo-calls went out to district families on Sunday.
The break itself has been fixed. The company says it will test the water quality by Tuesday.
