Though the Dallas Cowboys' unbelievable win over the Atlanta Falcons may have stolen the show in terms of the NFL's comeback performances in Week 2, a less dramatic comeback added yet another record to Patrick Mahomes' growing collection of accolades.

After trailing by 17-6 midway through the third quarter, Mahomes led the Chiefs on an eight-play, 35-yard drive that kicker Harrison Butker capped off with a 58-yard field goal. They got the ball again at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth, turning a Justin Herbert interception into a seven-play, 95-yard drive, ending with a 54-yard heave to Tyreek Hill and a subsequent two-point conversion to tie the game at 17 apiece.

Good defense, a field goal from each team and an eventual overtime victory -- thanks to another 58-yard field goal from Butker -- secured the comeback victory for Mahomes and the Chiefs. In doing so, Mahomes -- and even Butker -- made NFL history.

The Chiefs can obviously get out to big leads -- just look at what they did to the Texans in Week 1, going up by 17 early in the third quarter and making it a 24-point game early in the fourth -- but they can also find themselves behind. If Mahomes wasn't good enough for you without the added clutch factor, he undeniably has a second gear he can turn on when the going gets tough in Kansas City.

Most memorable were the slow starts that hindered the Chiefs throughout the playoffs of the 2019-20 season. The Texans will never trust a lead again, seeing as their 24-point lead in the early second quarter of last season's divisional round quickly disappeared after an insane 28-point run before halftime. The Chiefs went on to win that game, 51-31.

The next game, the Tennessee Titans led by 10 points in both the first and second quarter before the Chiefs ripped off 28 straight points throughout the remainder of the game and advanced to the Super Bowl.

And, as everyone remembers, Kansas City was down by 10 in the Super Bowl with a good amount of time off the clock in the fourth quarter before Mahomes flipped the switch and sent his offense on a ferocious 21-point run.

The Chiefs have also comeback from 10-point deficits against the Lions and the Raiders during Mahomes' six-game streak of double-digit deficits-turned-wins (via Pro Football Reference).

If Patrick Mahomes doesn't dominate your defense early, congratulations. Enjoy your two-score lead while it lasts, as an even more fierce attack is on the horizon when he inevitably leads the Chiefs for another devastating comeback win.

Peyton Manning is officially NFL's "comeback king," with an NFL-record 43 fourth-quarter comebacks throughout his career. However, Mahomes usually doesn't need to wait until the very end to get his team back into it, and watching opponents' double-digit leads completely vanish makes you question whether or not Mahomes is the true "comeback king" that the league has to offer.
