St. LOUIS, Mo. - Actor Ben McKenzie has had a very successful acting career, from leading roles in 'The O.C.', 'Gotham' and more.
Now the Hollywood actor is taking on a new venture: helping people understand how crypto currency is a massive fraud.
McKenzie, who has a degree in Economics, along with reporter Jacob Silverman, released a book on the subject July 18, called 'Easy Money: Cryptocurrency, Casino Capitalism, and the Golden Age of Fraud.'
McKenzie joined 'The Show' Monday to discuss the book and how he realized cryptocurrency like Bitcoin and Dogecoin was one massive Ponzi Scheme.
McKenzie says he first got into researching about the cons of Cryptocurrency during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.
"A buddy of mine encouraged me to invest in it," McKenzie said, "I took a look, but none of it made sense. Cryptocurrency didn't act like money but it was acting like an investment, and it was unclear what it was investing in."
McKenzie says a big red flag he immediately noticed during his research was that Cryptocurrency fell into arguably six red flags for discovering a Ponzi Scheme on the SEC's Website.
"The Red flags jumped off pretty immediately," McKenzie said, "It wasn't really that hard to see them. The issue was why was so many people buying into them and the answer sadly is simple: people see the price of something going up and they get excited and fomo."
The book was released on July 18, and you can order the book on Amazon, Barnes and Noble or any bookstore.
