(KMOX) — "All those moments will be lost in time" ... except this one. Rutger Hauer, of the 1982 sci-fi classic "Blade Runner" has died. He was 75.
Hauer's agent confirmed that he died on Friday, July 19, in his home country of the Netherlands after dealing with a short illness. The actor's funeral took place Wednesday.
Hauer played the role of Roy Batty, a synthetic human in "Blade Runner," with arguably his most notable scene being the "Tears in Rain" monolougue.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe," he is seen telling Harrison Ford's character in the movie. "Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."
Fans are now turning to social media to express their sympathies for the deceased actor.
