EUREKA, Mo. (KMOX) - Flash flooding in the St. Louis area Monday morning caused some schools to cancel classes, closed roads, swept away a vehicle – and washed away a horse.

The animal is O.K., according to Eureka Fire Protection District who posted on Facebook about the incident. They say the horse was taken away due to flooding off Fox Creek, and "is back safe with his family."

The post says a firefighter/paramedic was able to locate him.

The flooding happened Monday morning, causing Rockwood School District and Washington School District to cancel classes. This video of an unoccupied vehicle being swept away in the flood was shot in front of LaSalle Springs Middle School in the Rockwood District.
