ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - In case we have to wait another 98 years to witness it again, we're going to celebrate the St. Louis Cardinals four-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field as much as we can. If you weren't listening to hear the calls live, here are the best moments from the weekend and how it sounded on KMOX.
Thursday, Sept. 19 - Cards 5, Cubs 4:
The 10th-inning blast was Matt Carpenter's first home run since Aug. 25 and his biggest hit of the season. It also wouldn't be the last time we would see Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel this weekend.
Friday, Sept. 20 - Cards 2, Cubs 1:
Yadier Molina was close to experiencing a cringe-worthy groin injury similar to what happened last year, when he was hit in the groin by a ball tipped off the bat of Jason Heyward on Friday. But he stayed in and came through with the game-winning RBI.
Saturday, Sept. 21 - Cards 9, Cubs 8:
We knew at least one of these games was going to be a slugfest and we got it on Saturday afternoon. The final haymakers were thrown with back-to-back home runs by Molina and Paul DeJong on Kimbrel's first two pitches of the ninth inning.
Sunday, Sept. 22 - Cards 2, Cubs 1:
Although Yadi had an off day with three strikeouts, his teammates picked him up. It looked like Yu Darvish was going to close the book on St. Louis, but the relentless Cardinals came up with two runs in the top of the ninth inning.
