ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The Saint Louis Zoo announced Wednesday its plans for an outdoor expansion that will house primates to open in 2021.
Aptly dubbed the "Primate Canopy Trails," the $11.5-million addition to the Primate House will be comprised of eight new outdoor homes for primates. Construction is set to begin late this year.
“Most importantly, Primate Canopy Trails allows us to improve animal care, health and wellbeing by providing access to enriching outdoor habitats, sunlight and fresh air,” zoo executive Jeffrey P. Bonner said in a news release. “It also will allow visitors to experience primates like never before.”
