Soccer returns to Busch Stadium: US Men will host Uruguay

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The U.S Men's National Soccer Team is coming to Busch Stadium for an international friendly. The Stars and Stripes will play Uruguay on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31. They start at $35. Cardinals director of special events Julia Row says they're expecting the game to be a sellout.
The announcment was made at a special event at Ballpark Village Thursday.

The St. Louis Cardinals home turf has become a popular host for professional and international soccer teams in recent years. The first non-baseball sporting event held at Busch Stadium was in May 2013 when English Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea played an exhibition game there.
Later that year, it hosted an international friendly between Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Both the U.S. Men's and Women's National Teams have played at Busch Stadium, with the men playing a FIFA World Cup qualifier against St. Vincent and The Grenadines in November 2015 and the women have played multiple friendly matches against New Zealand in prior to its World Cup victories both in 2015 and this summer.
In August 2016, an International Champions Cup game between Europen club teams AS Roma and Liverpool was also at Busch Stadium.
