ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - World Wide Technology Raceway will be busy this weekend with IndyCar making it's way to Madison, Illinois.
While the main focus of the weekend will center on the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 on Saturday, June 17, which will features the likes of Alex Palou, Will Power, Scott Dixon, Pato O'Ward, Josep Newgarden and many more, that race won't be the only race to go on this weekend at the track.
Indy NXT, the development brand of IndyCar, will also have a race this weekend just right before the main race, with their race beginning at 2:55 p.m.
The series features some really talented drivers, from current Indy NXT standing leader Louis Foster to the talented female driver and 3-time W Series champion Jamie Chadwick.
The series also features Myles Rowe, who in 2023 became the first Black driver to win a major American open-wheel racing series by winning the 2023 USF Pro 2000 Championship with Pabst Racing.
"It's something that not everyone in their lifetime can achieve," said Rowe on Total Information A.M. "I'm grateful when I was presented with the opportunity and even more grateful to be able to execute upon it and so on having the opportunity to be able to do something even more towards that, possibly winning a IndyCar Championship or Indy500."
2024 is the first year Rowe is competing in the Indy NXT series and the season has been a up and down for him, with Rowe currently ninth in the championship, but has only one top-10 finish in his last five races.
Despite the mix results, Rowe says when he comes to the track, he always wants to interact with the fans and that's a part of a race weekend that he always enjoys.
"The fans, the enthusiasts and the paddocks is just full of energy and that's what racing does to you," said Rowe. "You can out the car, where ever it is, whether it's in a oval, a race track or a street track, you get out and you can never shake the feelings of hearing the engines when you get out the car and knowing there is something powerful for you.
"I always ask fans if it is their first time or if they are coming back and the ones that say it's their first time, you always see an energy around them and a smile on their face because it's really something otherworldly. There's really nowhere else where you can go to experience something like motor racing."
