ST. LOUIS ( KMOX) - This weekend will be big for the legendary 1999-2000 St. Louis Rams, also known as 'The Greatest Show on Turf'.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the St. Louis Cardinals will honor the team with a 25th anniversary celebration before their game against the Cleveland Guardians.

Over 20 people associated with the Super Bowl-winning team, including Pro Football Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk and Issac Bruce, legendary receiver Torry Holt and former Rams coach Mike Martz will be in attendance.

Before the game, Faulk, Holt and Bruce will sign autographs for fans (VIP Ticket is required). Also before the game, Martz, alongside Mike Jones and Ricky Proehl will do a Q&A session on the season. It will all cap off with a special pre-game ceremony, where over 20 members of the 1999 championship team will be introduced in a Ford Truck motorcade around the warning track.

St. Louis Sports Commentator Bernie Miklasz, who covered the team when he still worked for the St. Louis Post Dispatch, was guest host on 'The Chris and Amy Show' Thursday and he recounted covering that magical season.

"It's the greatest story I ever covered," said Miklasz on 'The Chris and Amy Show'. "When the St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup, that was an extraordinary story, but I wasn't covering the team per se, so it's a little different."

"The 1999 Rams was 100% unexpected. No one saw that coming, even though they had made some moves where they were going to be better. No one saw that coming. It goes into the annals of the greatest single seasons in terms of busting all the expectations that I've ever seen."

Miklasz say when the Rams made it to Super Bowl XXXIV, he and longtime Post-Dispatch writer Jim Thomas couldn't believe the Rams were in the Super Bowl.

"We covered a lot of bad football," said Miklasz. "So when we unpacked our work bags, we're there at the Georgia Dome, we just looked at each other and we're like 'can you believe this? (The Rams) are in the Super Bowl!'"

During the talk about the 1999 season, Miklasz gave high praise to quarterback Trent Green, who although got injured and his injury paved the way for Kurt Warner to take over, Green still had a massive impact on the Rams.

"Trent Green changed that team just by being there before he got hurt," said Miklasz. "They needed leadership. Rams had a lot of demoralized players and they needed someone to come in and change the culture of the team and he did."

"He showed up and he taking guys under his wing, saying 'hey we don't do that here, we got to have higher standards here'. (The players) were were 'dang, woah we didn't have this'. He set that up so well."
