St. Louis County officials say the operators – Quail Creek Golf Management – is violating the terms of a lease agreement, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The biggest losers of the unfortunate situation could be local high schools who call the course home.

Local high school golf coach and KMOX golf reporter Dan Reardon tells KMOX's Charlie Brennan and Amy Marxkors that it's becoming an impossible situation for some schools to find a new home. He says other courses in the area already full with supporting multiple other schools.

You can hear more from him in the audio at the top of the page.

Quail Creek is an 18-hole golf course located at 6022 Wells Road, across the street from Suson Park. The current lease agreement with operators is supposed to last through Sept. 30, 2029.

But Quail Creek Golf Management owner Steven Bander stated Friday that they won't be staying open after this month:

“Having notified the County months ago that Quail Creek Golf Management LLC would continue to operate the golf course until its funding ran out, I can confirm that the course will cease operations by February 28, 2022. Quail Creek Golf Management LLC has fulfilled its obligations under its Lease with the County and is not in breach of the Lease. Beyond this statement, Quail Creek Golf Management LLC will have no further comment.”
