Simone Biles is officially engaged.
The Olympic gold medalist announced on Instagram that she is getting married to Jonathan Owens, the 26-year-old safety for the Houston Texans who graduated from CBC in St. Louis then attended Missouri Western State University.
On her social media, Biles posted several pictures of Owens proposing in a gazebo. In the snaps, she can be seen wearing a black mini dress while he is wearing a gray suit. The 24-year-old also shared a video of her sparkly oval-cut engagement ring.
"THE EASIEST YES," Biles captioned the post "I can't wait to spend forever & ever with you, you're everything I dreamed of and more! let's get married FIANCÉ 💍🥺🤎 @jowens_3."
According to People, Owens commented on the post, "Ready for forever with you ❤️."
In July, it was reported that Owens apparently had no idea who the gymnast was until the two started dating.
The gold medalist and Owens made their relationship Instagram official in August 2020 and started dating at the beginning of the pandemic in March. At the time with the Summer Games officially postponed, the Olympic gold medalist suddenly had lots of unexpected free time and told Glamour she decided to use some of that time on the celebrity dating app, Raya. And after enough left swipes, Owens, a fellow athlete and Houston Texans footballer, caught her eye.
Talking to Wall Street Journal Magazine about how their relationship got its start, Simone said, “He would say I slid into his DMs.” She continued, “I saw him and I was like, ‘Oh, he’s pretty cute,’ so I said hi... and then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later.”
