ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Saint Louis Billikens Guard Gibson Jimerson announced Friday afternoon that he has withdrawn his name from the Transfer Portal and will return to SLU for his redshirt senior season.

Jimerson put his name in the Transfer Portal on March 21, 2024 a week after Saint Louis University fired Travis Ford after a disappointing season. The Athletic recently rated Jimerson as one of the top 20 players in the portal.

Jimerson reportedly had interest from multiple Power 5 schools, with UCLA and Indiana being among two to have reportedly reached out, but in the end, Jimerson will return to Saint Louis for his redshirt senior season in college basketball, his sixth season overall in College Basketball.

Jimerson's decision will keep SLU's all-time leading 3-point shooter and one of the Billikens all-time greatest scorers at the university for new Head Coach Josh Schertz's first season as the program's head coach.

Jimerson is only 147 points away from surpassing the school's all-time leading scorer Anthony Bonner. Jimerson is currently fifth in the program's all-time scoring record.

Keeping Jimerson is a big achievement for Schertz, with a majority of SLU's previous roster from last year in the portal, including guard Sincere Parker, Schertz would've effectively had to start building his roster from scratch barring anybody who could be set to join him from Indiana State if Jimerson chose to go to a Power 5 school, but keeping Jimerson will certainly help raise the floor on Schertz's expectations as head coach of SLU for next season.
