ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The Jaden Schwartz Era in St. Louis appears to be over. The Pavel Buchnevich Era appears ready to take off.

The Blues signed Buchnevich to a 4-year, $23 million deal Tuesday, just days after acquiring him in a trade for forward Sammy Blais and a 2022 2nd round pick.

Buchnevich, 26, comes to the Blues after spending five seasons with the New York Rangers, tallying 195 points (79 goals, 116 assists) and 112 penalty minutes in 301 regular-season games.

He's coming off a career season for the Rangers, tallying 20 goals and 28 assists in 54 games. His 48 points is his career best, despite playing 28 fewer games than a standard 82-game NHL season.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports say Schwartz will be signing for the expansion Seattle Kraken.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed Tuesday. The NHL's free agency period begins at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday.

The Kraken reportedly discussed contract terms with Schwartz before its expansion draft last week and could have selected him, but they opted for Blues defenseman Vince Dunn instead.

Schwartz, 29, was drafted by the Blues in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft, selected 14th overall (just two picks ahead of Vladimir Tarasenko).

The left winger played in 560 games in the Bluenote, recording 385 points (154 goals, 231 assists) and was a key figure in the Blues rise in the 2010s to a Stanley Cup contender.
