ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Moose is back with the Blues.
On Monday, the St. Louis Blues announced that Brian Elliott, who played the Blues from 2011-2016 has rejoined the club as a goaltender scout and development coach.
Elliott joined the Blues in 2011 following stints with the Ottawa Senators and Colorado Avalanche. Elliot played for the Blues from 2011-2016 and saw a lot of success with the Blues, posting a .925 save percentage and 2.01 GAA during his time in St. Louis. Elliott, along with Jaroslav Halak, won the William Jennings Award in 2011-12, which recognizes the goaltenders who played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against them.
Elliott's .925 save percentage, 25 shutouts and 2.01 GAA are all franchise records, while he is sixth all time in wins with 104, seventh in saves with 4,108, and third in goals saved above average (GSAA) with 48.
Elliott was crucial for the Blues in his final season with the franchise in 2015-16, which saw the Blues make their first Conference finals since 2000-2001. During that season, Elliott posted a 2.07 GAA with a league-leading .930 save percentage, winning 23 games, and would start 18 of the 20 playoffs games that season. Elliott, most notably, had pads that would be a tribute to Blues great Curtis Joseph.
Elliott was traded during 2016 NHL Draft to the Calgary Flames for a pair of draft picks, with one of them becoming Jordan Kyrou. Elliott did not see quite the level of success he had with the Blues in Calgary, posting a .910 save percentage and 2.55 GAA in his lone season with the Flames. After his stint in Calgary, he would jump around the league, playing mostly as a backup with the Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning. Elliott last played in 2023, serving as Andrei Vasilevskiy's backup with the Lightning.
