ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Pat Maroon of south St. Louis County is lifting the Stanley Cup once more as a champion of the National Hockey League. Last year he was a member of his hometown St. Louis Blues and this time he's won it as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning finished off the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday night to win the second championship in Tampa Bay's history.

Maroon posted a celebratory video to Twitter saying, "Back To Back....Thats all"

Maroon had six points in the Final for Tampa, with one goal and six five assists.

He made headlines earlier in this playoffs when he decorated his hockey stick with the name of fellow Oakville High School graduate and recently slain St. Louis Police officer Tamarris Bohannon.

Maroon also continues to be the vain of the Stars playoff existence, as his famous goal in last year's playoffs bounced the Stars in double overtime of Game 7.

It's unclear if the tradition will continue of every member of the Stanley Cup Championship team getting to spend a day with the most famous trophy in sports. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Final that usually wraps up in June was now played in September with the league wanting to start the 2020-21 season in January.

There's also a lot of travel and not to mention physical contact that comes along with Lord Stanley's trophy – which could cause some to be exposed to the coronavirus.

Either way, it's good to see hometown hero from the Heartland of Hockey hoisting the Cup once again.

He was shown a ton of love on social media from those in St. Louis:
