ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Cardinals legend Adam Wainwright is set to head back on the stage soon.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, Wainwright is teaming up with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra for a performance at the Stifel Theatre to celebrate a night of two of St. Louis’ greatest loves—music and baseball.

"I've talked to a lot of musicians that have been incredibly blessed to stand on the stage with the symphony and behind them before and said 'you just wait until you feel that incredible sound coming from behind you'" said Wainwright on 'Total Information A.M.'

"Four or five people have told me it completely envelopes you. I'm really looking forward to that."

Wainwright and the orchestra will perform songs from his album "Hey Y'all", which was released last April.

"I've been to several St. Louis Symphony performances and they just do an amazing job over there. I can't believe that I get to stand on stage and be a part of that, but I'm looking forward to it," said Wainwright.

Alongside the performance of Wainwright will also be a performance of Americana classics and a special rendition of Ernest Lawrence Thayer's poem “Casey at Bat” from legendary broadcaster Joe Buck that conveys all the drama of America’s favorite pastime.

"This is a baseball town and being there with Joe Buck is going to be special," said Wainwright. "He's been the voice of baseball for what I feel like decades now. So many iconic moments were from him and his incredible father."

"We been blessed to have the best part of St. Louis baseball and culture for a long time, so looking forward to that."

In addition to Buck, longtime Cardinals organist Dwayne Hilton will also be a part of the performance, bringing the sound of the stadium organ to the concert hall for a night of thrilling music and baseball drama.

"(Dwayne) will bring that Busch Stadium feel to the orchestra also and hopefully I will too," said Wainwright. "We got a couple special things in our set list that I think will make everybody smile."

Since Wainwright retired from professional baseball after the 2023 season, he has ventured into a music career, with performances at the Confluence Music Festival as part of the festivities for NASCAR at World Wide Technology Raceway last June at the Washington Town and County Fair last August, and opening for the Zac Brown Band at Chaifetz Arena in April.

In addition, Wainwright is still in the baseball world, working as an analyst for both Fox Sports and MLB Network.
