Cardinals, KMOX voice Mike Claiborne to be inducted in Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster and KMOX voice Mike Claiborne will be going into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

He is one of 13 individuals and five high school programs/teams making the Class of 2021. The Hall of Fame’s Enshrinement presented by Great Southern Bank is set for Nov. 14 at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis.

Claiborne has been covering St. Louis sports for 40 years, beginning his time at KMOX in February of 1981 co-hosting "Sports Open Line." This is his 15th year as a part of the radio Cardinals Broadcast team with Mike Shannon, John Rooney and Ricky Horton.

In St. Louis he's been a color analyst, providing play-by-play, a studio analyst and sideline reporter for Saint Louis University Basketball, UMSL Basketball, St. Louis Blues Hockey, St. Louis Rams, Fox Sports Midwest and the Cardinals.

He lives in St. Louis and is the father of two daughters, Taylor and Alyx.

Overall, Claiborne has covered the Cardinals in seven World Series (1982, 1985, 1987, 2004, 2006, 2011, 2013). From 1991-1996, he was program director of what’s now KFNS and has been a sports columnist for the St. Louis American newspaper, plus represented NFL and NBA athletes. He is a graduate of St. Louis’ DeAndreis High School and Fisk University.
