ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Don't look now but the Cardinals bats might have found a groove?

The Cardinals offensive struggles have been well documented by nearly everyone who covers sports in St. Louis, particularly the struggles at the plate for the likes of Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Gorman and others.

While the Cardinals offense is still below average as we reach the midway point of May, it's 98 weighted runs created plus (wRC+) is good for 14th in the league, and weighted on-base average of .304 is good for 15th. Both are unsurprisingly improvements over the 86 wRC+ and .287 wOBA posted in March/April.

Voice of the Cardinals John Rooney has noticed the improvement in hitting by the Cardinals in May when he talked to Chris Rongey and Amy Marxkors on The Chris and Amy Show Wednesday.

"They started hitting, they've had double figure in hits going back to Saturday night (against the Milwaukee Brewers)," said Rooney. "They showed some life on Saturday and the home run by (Rhys) Hoskins turned the night around for Milwaukee, but I've liked the life I saw from the offense and they have kept it up ever since."

A few Cardinals hitters have seen some life in their bats so far in the month of May, from Michael Siani, Nolan Gorman, Nolan Arenado, and Alec Burleson.

Rooney says that while it is still confusing to him how everyone in the Cardinals lineup was slumping in the month of April, but it looks like things might be turning around for some players in the lineup, especially for one of the Cardinals superstars.

"Nolan Arenado looks like he's beginning to get locked in, I'm not sure Goldschmidt is quite their yet, he had some strikeouts last night, but Arenado is hitting the ball with authority right now," said Rooney.
