ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The 2024-25 offseason for the St. Louis Cardinals could be a very intriguing offseason, according to Mike Claiborne.

Claiborne joined 'The Chris and Amy Show' for his weekly appearance and it was the first time on KMOX airwaves he got to discuss the Cardinals season-ending press conference this week, which notably saw the Cardinals announce Chaim Bloom as John Mozeliak's successor as president of baseball operations. Bloom will take over the role after the 2025 season.

"It was awkward to me because we have never seen a transition take place in the manner it did," said Claiborne. "I'm scratching my head but I understand why it had to take place. I think most people wanted John Mozeliak out. I didn't think it was necessarily the case. I think Mo has earned the right to be here and live through his contract, but there's going to be a new face in Chaim Bloom."

Claiborne says he is intrigued to see what Bloom does to help the Cardinals move forward.

"How many people is he going to bring him? How many people are going to stay in the organization, there's so much going on," said Claiborne. "This will be the most intriguing offseason Cardinals fans have ever seen."

"You can go back to the days when Whitey (Herzog) took over and when new ownership took over. No this supersedes everything because it starts with the system and how you develop players to where we are at the big league level."
