ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - One of the top prospects in the St. Louis Cardinals organization has provided some details about why he and his teammates were forced to sleep on the floor and chairs of a hotel conference room Sunday night.

Video of the incident involving the Springfield Cardinals – St. Louis' Double-A team – was shared by Advocates for Minor Leaguers on Monday. It shows players scattered across the large room laying on makeshift beds or just lying on the floor. The organization that has exposed incidents of the struggles many Minor Leaguers go through said in a tweet:

"The Double-A teams for the St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres begin a series tomorrow in San Antonio. This is where the Cardinals players were forced to sleep last night."

The Cardinals won its game on Sunday night in Frisco, Texas with the final out being recorded around 8:30 p.m. The team then hopped on a bus and headed to San Antonio – which is a four-and-a-half-hour drive. Upon arrival, the hotel didn't have rooms ready for the team.

"This was a clerical error on the part of the hotel that has been handled and corrected," the Springfield Cardinals said in a statement to the Springfield News-Leader. "We had received confirmation from the hotel and once they realized the problem, the hotel immediately began preparing the rooms."

Outfielder for Springfield and a top-30 prospect in the Cardinals organization, Nick Plummer, shared more of what happened in a series of Tweets.

"The @Cardinals and our staff here in Springfield did everything in their power to be prepared to come in late last night after finishing the series is Frisco," Plummer stated. "Whether it was a miss communication between the Home club and hotel is beyond me. More importantly we all received rooms by 9 AM from my knowledge and slept in and are enjoying the rest of our off day before the start of the series. These things do happen and we players are adaptable and determined to stay prepared for the next game amidst alittle adversity. #NoGive"

The Springfield Cardinals begin a six-game series in San Antonio on Tuesday night.
