This Saturday, St. Louis CITY SC kicks off its season with a match in Austin, and they're feeling confident going in. Midfielder Indiana Vassilev tells KMOX that the team's excitement is "off the charts."
"You guys cannot fathom how excited we are to kick off in front of a full crowd at CITYPARK," he said. "Our first game is away, but yeah, we are so excited to kick off for you guys and hopefully give you a good show."
CITY SC was able to test itself against some other teams, Western and Eastern conference, in the preseason and Vassilev said that was encouraging.
"We're not afraid of anybody," he told KMOX. "And we as a team are happy, we obviously have stuff to iron out and things to improve. But as a team, as a collective, we feel like we're on the same page, everyone's going in the same direction."
Vassilev said aside from players being on the same page, they've got great leadership that's done a great job of bringing the team together. "We're starting to create a culture here, you know, a winning culture," he said.
