Rasmus Alm scored the fastest goal in St. Louis City history and João Klauss added two of his own Saturday night as City defeated the Chicago Fire 3-1 at CityPark.
Alm's strike came 1:24 into the match, his first goal of the season, and that was all the scoring in the first half. The Fire leveled things just after halftime but 10 minutes later, Klauss scored the first of his two goals, the second coming in the 67th minute.
"I thought it was a very controlled performance," said City head coach Bradley Carnell. "Very happy with the way we continued to apply the principles, to apply the game plan and happy that we had a response when we conceded the equalizer."
The victory extended City SC's unbeaten streak to five games. From its first 11 matches, City is 3-7-1 and has 16 points. The team is currently ninth in the Western Conference, six points behind conference leader Real Salt Lake.
"A very important three points," continued Carnell. "This hopefully kicks us off for a good stretch over the next couple of weeks."
City will host LAFC Wednesday at CityPark before a road match in Cincinnati next Saturday. They'll finish out their May portion of the schedule on the 25th, a home match against the Seattle Sounders.
