ST. LOUIS - St. Louis City SC returned back to action Sunday night against Austin FC and they came back absolutely firing.
City SC head coach Bradley Carnell previously told KMOX he wanted to see the offense score more from the run of play, something that had been lacking for the team heading into the break, but they sure didn't seem like they had any struggle with goals on Sunday, scoring six goals against Austin FC.
Carnell joined Total Information A.M. to discuss the team's 'suffering' victory against Austin F.C.
"We had to really find ways and means to put it to Austin FC and really get out of the block early despite the conditions," said Carnell.
Carnell says the win was a really big confidence booster for St. Louis City SC, showing the league that the team can play well in any weather condition, something that they didn't have full confidence in heading into the season.
"I think (the win) showed we can play our style, snowing, raining, sunshine, humidity, something that was challenging for us beginning in the year," said Carnell.
Carnell praised center back Tim Parker, who opened the scoring with header from a set piece to help kick off the club's scoring prowess.
"He stood for what we embodied earlier in the year," said Carnell, "He resurrected his career and got it back on track. Now 7-8 months later, he still playing at a great level. He's playing with a purpose now."
