WATCH: Missouri Air Force pilots to perform flyover at Field of Dreams baseball game

DYERSVILLE, Iowa (KMOX) - There will be a Missouri connection just before the first MLB game being played at the site of the mystical cornfield in "Field of Dreams" tonight. Make sure you're paying attention during the playing of the national anthem.

A crew of A-10s flown by pilots with the 303rd Fighter Squadron at Missouri's Whiteman Air Force Base will perform a pre-game flyover. The four pilots selected all from Iowa themselves or have family from Iowa:

Capt. “Pistol” Rindels, family from Waterloo, IA
Maj. “Zero” Carlton, from Sioux City, IA
Maj. “Jewcy” Berry, from Des Moines, IA
Lt. Col. “Deuce” Siems, from Dewitt, IA.

The New York Yankees play the Chicago White Sox in tiny Dyersville, next to the actual site used in the 1989 film. A crowd of about 8,000 is expected.

When the game was first announced, the St. Louis Cardinals were set to play in game in 2020, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. The Chicago Cubs are reportedly going to play in the game that may return next season, after manager David Ross appeared to let the news slip.

In Thursday's game, former Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn will be on the mound for the White Sox. It begins at 6 p.m. CT.
