3 people dead in Belleville, Illinois, house fire; 2 others transported to hospital

Belleville, Ill. (KMOX) - Three people have died in a house fire in Belleville, Illinois, while two others were transported to the hospital.

The house fire took place at a home on South 13th Street, with Belleville Fire Department saying they got the call at around 5:20 a.m. Monday morning.

Belleville Fire Chief Stephanie Mills tells KMOX News three people have died all adult males. One was found on the second story of the house while two others were were found on the ground level.

Firefighters had to use a pulley system, take a gurney, sliding it up a ladder and connecting the gurney to the pulley system to pull it lightly down the ladder from the second story. A couple of firefighters were on the second floor holding onto the ladder.

Two others were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
