St. Louis County teens can take part in a national baby sitter program that is being offered locally.
The Safe Sitter Program is a 6-hour-long babysitting class that teaches teens first aid, choking rescue, CPR, and business skills. Participating 12 to 16 year-olds also receive a certification and handbook after completing the class.
Program instructor and St. Louis County Reference Librarian Anthony Martinez says the class can make a huge difference for teen babysitters, who may be relatively inexperienced with watching younger children all by themselves.

The County Library is offering one class a month through the end of the year, with the next one on August 29th at the Cliff Cave Branch in Oakville.
