AFFTON, Mo. (KMOX) - Affton High School announced all students and staff are safe after a lockdown was initiated due to a threat written in a bathroom. As of 12:35 a.m. the St. Louis County school was still on exterior lockdown "out of an abundance of caution."

County police and school resource officers are investigating as the lockdown first went into effect at 9:15 a.m Thursday. The public was asked to avoid the area and parents were instructed not to call or come to the school.

Students will still be dismissed at 2:15 as normal and all after school and evening activities will continue as scheduled, the school announced.

The schools says parents should check their emails for further information.
