Halloween might be more than a month away, but the pumpkin crop is starting to arrive at local stores.
Millstadt farmer Allen Scharf told KMOX it's been a hot and wet summer, but the lowly pumpkin is capable of putting up with a lot of grief.
"Last week was tough on them cause that heat, you can imagine, there's gonna be some problems," Scharf said. "But today's beautiful, there's gonna be some pumpking setting. Pumpkins, like farms, are very resilient."
Scharf said people should expect to pay a little more this year for pumpkins, and that a pumpkin that wen tfor $4.50 last year could go for $5 this year.
