Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has filed his amended petition against St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner.
Bailey sought to amend his original petition after he said "additional, significant information" had come to his attention. In a press release, his team says that "his office has interviewed multiple witnesses who had the courage to come forward, reviewed countless court files, and analyzed over 30,000 documents and data."
In his amended petition, he asserts that Gardner has failed to review warrant applications, causing an eight-month backlog. He also says she caused cases to be dismissed, sometimes because the Assistant Circuit Attorney (ACA) didn't show up to court.
He also criticizes her for her lawsuit against the city of St. Louis, calling it "costly and wasteful;" says her office's environment was "toxic and dysfunctional;" asserts that she caused a record amount of turnover in ACAs and made them unprepared for trial because of a heavy caseload a burnout; and says she caused ACAS to commit discovery abuses, among other accusations.
