North County Project Manager Joanne Wade told a town hall meeting Thursday evening they're taking down trees and building roads at Jana, in preparation for soil removal. "We are also doing additional work in the Hazelwood School District and Jana so we're actually working with our Army Geospatial Center and they're performing independent investigation on soil movement in north St. Louis County." Wade says crews started work at the Jana Elementary campus last month.
Wade says they're looking for any locations where radioactive waste dumped by the federal government might be found.
