NASA's Artemis splashed down into the ocean after 25 days in space, marking a successful trip that sets up humans to return to the moon later this decade.
Andy Saunders, author of the book Apollo Remastered, told KMOX that it's about time for a manned moon mission.
"It's always been kind of 10 years away, hasn't it? I mean, 'In 10 years we'll go back to the moon and in 20 We'll go to Mars,'" Saunders said. "And that seems to have gone on and on and on. So to finally have had Artemis I, that splashdown successful mission, Artemis II the next time that goes we'll have people going back to the moon."
Artemis II will be a manned mission that seeks to take off in 2024 or 2025, though it won't actually land on the moon. Some predict that landing on the moon won't be until 2027 or 2028.
