ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - I've been talking on my radio program with Amy Marxkors about the possibility of turning local underpasses into "blank canvases" for area artists. Last week, I got a Special Use Permit from St. Louis County to beautify the underpass at Hanley Road where it meets Forest Park Parkway.
On Friday, local volunteers swept and hosed down the sidewalk and underpass.
On Saturday, about thirty talented area artists--including 10 from SLU Professor Terri Shay's art class--tackled the underpass with chalk. The results can be seen in the video at the top of this page.
What do you think of the "Funky Underpass?" Should we continue this around the area?"
