Attorneys for Monte Anderson have announced that he intends to plead guilty to two counts of armed criminal action and two counts of involuntary manslaughter after allegedly running a red light in downtown St. Louis, striking and killing a mother and daughter visiting from Chicago to attend a Drake concert.
It will take about eight weeks to conduct the sentencing assessment report, so it may not be until September until we learn what kind of punishment Henderson faces.
Unrelated to Henderson's plea, the St. Louis City Circuit Attorney's office filed a motion to no longer pursue the DWI charge earlier in the week. While they declined to comment on dropping the DWI charge, they did provide this statement to KMOX:
“The defendant is expected to enter an open plea next week in a case that took the lives of a mother and daughter who were simply walking back to their hotel after a concert. This devastating crash shattered a family and left deep pain in its wake. The charges include two counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and two counts of armed criminal action. In an open plea, the judge will determine the sentence after hearing from all sides. Our hearts remain with the victims’ loved ones as they continue to navigate unimaginable grief.”
Henderson's attorney, Scott Rosenbloom, declined to comment. Henderson will plead guilty on Tuesday. The plea is an open plea, meaning no deal is in place between Henderson and the Circuit Attorney's office.
