Ballwin man facing charges for raping at least 5 women he met on dating websites

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A St. Louis County man is accused of raping at least five women he met through dating websites over the last two years.

Yahya Maly, 28, has been charged with two counts of first-degree rape or attempted rape, seven counts of second-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy.

Maly is being held on $500,000 cash-only bond, with no 10% bond.

According to probable cause statements, Maly met at least five women between March 2023 to February 2025 and met them at his apartment complex at the 100 block of Log Trail Drive in Ballwin, Missouri.

Police say Maly tried to make sexual advances at each of the women, and in each of case, they refused to have sex with Maly.

The statement alleges Maly forced himself on the victims, holding them for hours against their will and sexually assaulting them in a variety of ways.

Some victims told police he convinced them they shared conservative values or discussed marriage before he forced them to engage in sex acts.

Police say they had been looking into Maly, who was a student at Logan University, for months.

However, more recent incident that happened on Feb. 2, 2025, less than two weeks ago. Maly forcibly led a woman to his bedroom, and held her against her will for more than seven hours and then would only let the woman leave after she showered repeatedly.

Investigators believe Maly may have victimized additional women and he met several of his victims via dating apps. Police say Maly also utilized the first name of “John” on dating apps.
