ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - One of the most iconic spots in St. Louis is the Blueberry Hill in the Delmar Loop.

One of the main traditions at the Blueberry Hill is the annual darts tournament, which attracts many across the country to participate. The tournament began in 1973 and has since become the largest and oldest pub dart tournament in North America.

On Friday, Sept. 6, the 52nd edition of the darts tournament is set to take at Blueberry Hill and will take place until Sunday, Sept. 8.

"People come across the country, from Denver, Chicago, New York, and a lot from St. Louis, Missouri and Illinois of course," said Joe Edwards, a developer and businessman with the Delmar Loop and affectionately known as "The Duke of Delmar" on "The Chris and Amy Show". "We have seven men's and women's events on 21 dart boards and it's pretty interesting."

Edwards says whenever the tournament happens, he always impressed by those who come from across the country to participate.

"They're so good, they get such tight grouping with their darts," said Edwards. "It's just fascinating the skill level. In any skill level, it's fun watching the best."

Edwards says darts is such a fun sport, and it is a sport for everyone.

"It just a commodore-type thing. It can be a young person, a grandparent, it can be date night people, it can be anything as far as getting together and enjoying a few laughs," said Edwards. "It's doesn't have to be competitive, but it can be competitive sport."
