Dr. Bob Onder announced today that he is ending his run for St. Charles County Executive.

In a Facebook post, Onder cited spending more time with his family as a reason for bowing out, and added that it would allow him to “focus on elections deeply important to the future of our state.” One election he hopes to focus on is the one for his successor in Senate District 2. He said in his post that he endorses State Representative Nick Schroer for the seat.

In his post Onder also made a call to action to end the bid for ranked choice voting, an effort that’s being spearheaded in Missouri by Better Elections, a bipartisan organization with roots in St. Louis.

Onder originally announced his run in February of this year, and planned to focus on ending “COVID tyranny” including mask mandates and students missing school days due to COVID spread. When he announced his run, he called out current County Executive Steve Ehlmann for implementing COVID safety protocols.
