The two sides in the big strike, Boeing and the machinists union, appear to continue to be talking past each other. After the union voted on its own proposal and Boeing criticized that, both decided to get together again with federal mediators.
IAM in a statement to members says:
"The company continues to insist on staying within the same economic framework that our members have rejected three times." adding the company put forward a previous offer and, quote, "We will not re-vote a rejected offer."
Dan Gillian, Boeing Air Dominance Vice President and General Manager and Senior St. Louis Site Executive, says in a statement:
"We’re disappointed the union walked out on talks and rejected our offer to settle the strike. The union continues to mislead its members by inflating their expectations, promising outcomes that they know are unrealistic and not aligned with the current market realities."
