A bomb threat today evacuated students from Francis Howell High School but the all-clear has been sounded. Cpl. Barry Bayles with St. Charles County police tells KMOX they believe the threat came from a spoofed number.

Francis Howell High School students are being dismissed early due to the bomb threat and resulting evacuation. Those who drove themselves in their cars were allowed to leave campus around 1:45 p.m. Friday.

"Parents wishing to pick up their child should enter campus through the first entrance near the former Union building and line-up behind buses. Parent pick-up will occur after buses are dismissed," the Francis Howell district says in a note updating families. "All vehicles will be directed to exit campus by the tennis courts onto Route D."

It appears some students were evacuated without a chance to retrieve some of their personal belongings. The district says instructions on how to claim those items from the building will come later.

Our original story:

St. Charles police and other departments are on the scene after an evacuation prompted by a bomb threat at Francis Howell High School today.

"We're out there right now working with school officials and administrators to determine if there's anything credible to this call. We have officers on scene with our bomb unit and our bomb dog is en route as well," Cpl. Barry Bayles with St. Charles County police tells KMOX News.

He say they're in contact with the school district, which is sending text updates to families. They're asking parents not to show up to pick up their students, in part, because the parking lot is blocked off and filled with students and police officers.
