The Illinois Bomb Squad and other officials have returned to the scene of a house explosion that killed three and injured one late Sunday evening.
The bomb squad announced they are conducing controlled demolitions Tuesday morning, with at least a dozen being heard by neighbors. The explosions are taking place towards the back of the property.
No cause of the explosion has been given so far. According to the Madison County Sheriff’s department, the initial call to the fire department came in at 11:15pm Sunday evening to a fire and explosion at the 8000 block of West Kirsch Rd in Troy. Firefighters found one person with significant burn injuries outside the home and three deceased inside after the fire was extinguished.
At the property Tuesday for the controlled demolitions include representatives of the Madison County Sheriffs Department, Troy Fire Department, Illinois Bomb Squad and the St. Charles County, MO Police K9 Unit. The FBI and ATF are also involved in the investigation.
Neighbor David Templeman lives a quarter mile down the road and says he was shocked how close this was to his home.
“This is a farming community. You don't see this.”
No cause of the explosion has been given at this time.
