The city of Branson, Mo., is looking to rein in drag queens

The Branson Missouri Board of Aldermen gave preliminary approval this week to classify drag shows as 'adult entertainment.' That would restrict where they could be and who can see them.

Alderman Ralph LeBlanc says it's not intended to limit female impersonators, "we're kind of getting lost in the emotion of the drag show deal, when really it's about that sexual activity and sexual content. That is what we're zoning into the downtown district."

Alderman Chuck Rodriguez, however, is not in favor of the change.

"It feels to me like we're targeting drag queens because people in our community don't like their lifestyle."

Tuesday's vote was not unanimous, with some Aldermen believing it's discriminatory. If given final passage, only adults could see drag shows and only in the downtown Branson entertainment district.
