ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - There is still a lot unknown about what the pre-game celebrations will look like on the St. Louis Cardinals home opener this week. But we now know the Budweiser Clydesdales will be there!
The St. Louis-based beer makers posted a hype video to social media on Monday to announce that the majestic and iconic horses will be part of the festivities on Thursday, when the Cardinals host the Brewers at Busch Stadium. It will be the first time since 2019 that we've seen them trot around the field.
There was no fanfare before the 2020 home opener because there were no fans in the ballpark due to health and safety restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. But it will feel good to see them back this week.
The Cardinals are allowing about 15,000 fans in the stadium to start the season. Besides the Clydesdales, it's unclear if any other typical aspects of the home opener will be in place. Will we see the Hall of Famers in the "Red Jacket Club," an on-field performance of the national anthem and will there still be a truck or convertible caravan of players, coaches and alumni?
We'll find out on Thursday ... First pitch is set for 3:15 p.m. and the KMOX pre-pre-game show begins at 11 a.m. Here's how to listen:
