It's called hybrid coronoary re-vascularization -- and it allows surgeons to completely re-vascularize a patient's blockages of the heart -- without opening their chest.

Mercy Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Parth Patel says, "Now the patient can go home in 3 or 4 days without significant bed rest and be back to normal, living life if you will, in about 2 weeks. Completely, maybe not cured of their heart disease, but certainly signifigantly better to the point where they don't have to worry about it."

In addition to the faster recovery, Dr. Patel says patients see a lower risk of complications and less pain.
