It happened just before 1 p.m. at Uncle Bill's Pancakes in the 3400 block of Kingshighway. A while Dodger Charger with expired temporary tags had ran into the building.

The most serious of the injuries reported were to the driver and an employee who were both taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. The injuries are not life-threatening, police say.

Authorities say pieces of brick and wood were sent flying into the dining area when the car put a hole in the side of the building. Meals were still left on their plates as people scattered.

Police have not determined what led to the crash.
